Quite simply, Montage Laguna Beach exceeds expectations in many ways. Southern Californian families know this, which is why an incredible number of them return year after year. The oceanfront setting is stunning and every guest appreciates this as all guest rooms look out at the water in one way or another. The main public areas inside are grand, yet the comfortable atmosphere created by the warm and attentive staff makes it surprisingly easy to relax with kids. There’s a gorgeous main pool for all to enjoy and a second adult-only pool that is part of the spa and fitness area. The hotel is just steps from a long, sandy beach and tide pools. The stand out feature for families is the truly exceptional Paintbox kids club with camp-style activities for ages 2-12. The onsite restaurants are delicious. Families have easy access to town via the hotel’s free service to nearby restaurants and shopping. |

The long list of amenities this eco-friendly resort for families includes two swimming pools, a game room, a movie theater, pony rides, tennis, and board games. In addition, complimentary supervised programs provide a wonderful opportunity for kids to experience the natural surroundings; our kids loved ‘Meet the Farmer’ where they helped with morning ‘chores’ at the barn. Hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, and even moose watching are nearby. Suites are spacious and perfect for families. The onsite restaurants are excellent. |

The unbeatable location on a quiet street adjacent to Piazza Navona is the reason we love Hotel Raphael for families. Many of Rome’s major tourist attractions are within walking distance. Rich with local color, the historic streets in this part of the city are fun to explore. The ivy-covered hotel has a boutique feel with appealing public areas and modern rooms. Families need to know that some room categories are small and the hotel offers only a handful of suites that can accommodate 4 people. That said, if a suite is available and you have a flexible budget, the property makes a wonderful home-base and is a favorite for many Ciao Bambino clients. The rooftop terrace is a special feature with lovely views of Rome’s landmarks. |

Kids enjoy their own top notch amenities here including an expansive family pool area which notably has the same striking views as the adult pool–there is also a lovely kid's club facility for ages 5-12. The vibe here is relaxation, not hustle and bustle—but there are amenities for those that want to more action including a fitness center and a remarkably peaceful spa for parents that want pampering. |

The Village at Squaw Valley offers condo accommodations with limited hotel services right at the base of the ski area with immediate and easy access to lifts, ski school, shops, and restaurants. Although condos are individually owned, standard corporate décor is used throughout the complex and guest units are comfortable and well-appointed. Most have a full kitchen, gas fireplace, and a private balcony. Shared amenities include laundry facilities, game/TV lounges, fitness centers, and outdoor whirlpool tubs. Convenience is key when skiing with kids and everything families need is available in and around the Village. |

The panoramic views of Florence from the Arno-facing rooms at the Westin Excelsior are glorious and one of the reasons why this hotel is a Ciao Bambino favorite for a luxury city stay. The ambiance is grand and old-world—a fun way for families to experience another age. The trade off is that the rooms are not state-of-the-art with all the latest gadgets; although, they are spacious for Europe and well-furnished with the usual Westin “Heavenly” amenities. Connecting rooms are available. Located on the Piazza Ognissanti, the hotel is not in the very center of town—the main tourist attractions are a 15-minute walk—not a problem given that a big part of enjoying Florence is strolling. |

During our stay at The Westin Verasa Napa, there were more kids and dogs relaxing in the lobby lounge than couples on a romantic getaway. Part of the new riverfront development in the city of Napa, this hotel is a convenient and well-appointed home-base for exploring Napa Valley. The attraction for families at this property is the spacious, value-oriented guest rooms with kitchen facilities and sofa beds - it feels like having your own Napa apartment instead of a hotel room. The décor is casual, modern and tasteful. The service is friendly with an excellent concierge. This is not the typical vineyard-view, idyllic Napa getaway since the location is in town, but there is a nice pool and several good restaurants are within walking distance including casual options that are perfect for kids.

The newly opened Tivoli Hotel is a joint venture between the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group and Tivoli Gardens. Bright, eclectic décor and amusement park theme-based rooms (boy and girl versions) make this hotel a festive home-base for families visiting Copenhagen. The property caters to business travelers too and at first blush, it feels corporate, although the lighthearted atmosphere and dedicated resources for families including indoor/outdoor play areas ensure young kids feel welcome. Our favorite feature is the wonderfully modern indoor swimming pool—perfect for family breaks from sightseeing or cold weather. The breakfast is excellent. The one downside is the slightly removed location from the heart of Copenhagen in an industrial zone; however, a 15-minute walk, bike ride (rentals available through hotel) or free shuttle transports guests easily to all the main attractions. |
