Frugal and Venice?

Frugal and Venice is an oxymoron—a shame because despite the unpleasantries of pricing and crowds, this is a fun city to visit with kids.  I love the recent Frugal Traveler article in the New York Times on seeing Venice on a budget—the piece is full of very specific recommendations and the experience is told from a parent’s perspective.  The focus is the joy of Venice during winter months—I absolutely agree—the city is so much more enjoyable when you are not fighting throngs of tourists. The writer also outlines an excellent resource for babysitting—they found American intern living in Venice via the Peggy Guggenheim Museum.  A wonderful idea! Read the complete article.
