Photo Friday: No Smiles at Rodeo Beach

April 3rd, 2009
Amie from Ciao Bambino

I’m always trying to capture the best scenery shot and get everyone to smile (no fake smiles allowed).  Unfortunately, that doesn’t always work out.  This week’s Photo Friday post is one of those moments.  We were on a hike at Rodeo Beach in Marin County—see my list of favorite kid-friendly spring excursions around the Bay Area—and there was no way I was going to get Devon to smile for this fabulous view shot.  In fact, he was in the middle of telling us how exhausted he was from our 10-minute hike up the hill—his moment of exasperation is clear.

In restrospect, I’m loving the photo because it provides a rich memory of our experience and what it can be like to hike with a 6-year-old!  For more Photo Friday posts, visit Delicious Baby.

I have a lot of “those” shots in my photo library as well. Beautiful scenery though. :)

Stunning view. And lucky for me, it’s local. I need to get up there!

I grew up in Marin. Makes me homesick! I hope to bring the kids some day, just trying to find an excuse to get up there.

If I had a nickel for every picture I had of the kids either a) yelling “smile” with horrible frozen looks on their faces or b) looking anywhere but at the camera I would be a wealthy, wealthy woman.

I love that you can tell so much about the story from his posture!
