Where Can Kids Ski Free in 2010?

A few weeks ago I wrote a post on finding family friendly ski resorts and promised to follow up with a list of ski areas offering kids ski free programs. Choosing venues where kids ski free is a great way to take the edge of the exorbitant cost of skiing. I scoured the web for options in North America.  Stay tuned for a Ski Europe edition.

Crested Butte, CO

What: Kids ski free from February 22-March 11

Who: Kids 12 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. Minimum 3-night stay required. Available from Crested Butte Vacations 800-600-2803.

Aspen/Snowmass, CO

What: Kids ski and stay for free from March 1-31

Who: Kids 7-12

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. Minimum 5-night stay. Must be booked by January 15. Available from Stay Aspen/Snowmass 888-649-5982.

Vail/Beaver Creek, CO

What: Kids fly, stay, and ski for free through February 12

Who: Kids 12 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. Midweek travel required. Minimum 2-night stay required. Must fly into Vail/Eagle airport via United or American Airlines.   Available from Vail/Beaver Creek Reservations 888-605-7576.

Steamboat, CO

What: Kids ski free all season

Who: Kids 12 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. 5 or more lift day purchase required.

Available from Steamboat Central Reservations 877-783-2628.

Mt. Bachelor, OR

What: Kids ski free all season

Who: Kids 12 and under

Rules: Must accompany an adult who purchases a 3 of 5 or 5 of 7 multiday ticket. The child will get the same. Available at the ticket window. See Mt. Bachelor’s website for more information.

Sun Valley, ID

What: Kids stay and ski free most of the season

Who: Kids 15 and under

Rules: Available for one child per skiing parent staying in the same room. Must stay within Sun Valley resort. Not available from February 11-21. Available from Sun Valley Reservations 800-786-8259.

Killington, VT

What: Kids ski free all season

Who: Kids 5 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. Available at ticket window.

Lake Placid, NY

What: Kids ski free all season

Who: Kids 6 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. Available all season from ticket window.

Brighton, UT

What: Kids ski free all season

Who: Kids 10 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. Available all season from ticket window.

Banff, Alberta, Canada

What: Kids ski free all season

Who: Kids 12 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying parent. Minimum 5-day lift ticket required. Up to 4 children per paying parent. Available from UltimateSki.ca.

Whistler/Blackcomb, British Columbia, Canada

What: Kids ski and rent free through April 18

Who: Kids 12 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult. Minimum 3-day lift ticket required. Available from Whistler/Blackcomb Reservations 866-218-9690.

Mammoth Mountain, CA

What: Kids ski free all season

Who: Kids 6 and under

Rules: Must accompany a full paying adult.  Available at ticket window.

There is one option I found that is not fee, but close enough to it to mention.

Squaw Valley, CA

What: Kids can ski or snowboard for $10 a day all season

Who: Kids 12 and under

Rules: Don’t see any! Information available on the Squaw.com website
