Rome is an exciting destination and provides and a rich cultural experience for both adults and children. The ruins bring history to life, especially when coupled with family activities like Gladiator School. Add in the mouth-watering food, awe-inspiring art and wonderful parks full of families, and you have the setting for an unforgettable family vacation. Now, Rome is certainly busy, but quite manageable when planned thoughtfully with a realistic approach to what you can do each day with kids-in-tow.

Nancy’s Kids Travel Book List for Rome is a great place to choose some pre-trip reading. This is one city where I highly recommend reading ahead of time so the kids have some idea of what they are seeing.
