Greetings from Tokyo, Japan! I’m here for a whirlwind 72-hour media trip to cover ANA’s (All Nippon Airways) launch of their new Boeing 787 Dreamliner service from Mineta San Jose Airport to Narita Airport in Tokyo.
Up close and personal with a Dreamliner at the Haneda Airport ANA Hanger
I flew the Dreamliner over a day after the inaugural launch of that service on January 11th. Don’t let the recent bad press fool you, this aircraft is indeed dreamy for passengers. I won’t lie, I had a few second thoughts last week when there were consecutive news days announcing problems, but I figured (and firmly believe) that safety is top-of-mind for ANA and I’m in good hands.
Snow didn’t stop us from enjoying sightseeing in Asakusa
I’ll share more about the flight highlights in another post. Sadly, this trip is too short to add any real fodder for families around things to do in Tokyo with kids, but now that it is easier than ever to get here from the Bay Area, I’ll prioritize getting back soon.
In the meantime, for a preview of all new features on ANA’s Dreamliner, be sure and click over to The BAT (The Bay Area Traveler) for an excellent review of our flight accompanied by photos courtesy of Chris McGinnis.
Editorial Note: ANA provided complimentary transportation, lodging, meals, and tours to Ciao Bambino so we could review this new service. As always, our opinions are our own. Photos by Amie O’Shaughnessy
