Just steps from the beach, the Catamaran Resort is in an excellent location for all ages. Guest rooms are simply decorated but comfortable. Suites are spacious and many rooms have nice water views. There are plenty of restaurants nearby for those that want to walk to meals and the hotel offers free tickets in the evenings on the Bahia Belle boat (cruises through Mission Bay). Pricing is value-oriented for the space, room amenities, and location. |

Despite its corporate roots, this property has adapted to accommodate the traveling family. With fully-functional kitchens in each of their one bedroom suites, as well as cribs and Pack N' Plays available at no extra charge, families can maintain some of their high standards of home. While there are no views or interests within walking distance, the property is clean, quiet and peaceful, and is a great value for families visiting San Diego. |

My kids were so psyched to hang out a the gorgeous beach at the Hotel Del Coronado. This luxurious hotel has beautiful rooms and ocean views. The town is cute and the overall area is perfect for walking and bike riding. The hotel has daily kids activities, offers surging lessons, and rents a variety of bikes including cruisers, tandems, and surreys. The restaurant is excellent and welcomes families.

The Park Hyatt Aviara is a large resort hotel in North San Diego County with expansive grounds that include access to the Batiquitos Lagoon area. The resort is just a 5-minute drive from Legoland and caters to families offering many amenities for children and teens. Guest rooms are spacious and well-appointed. A beautiful pool area includes a large family pool, a toddler pool, complimentary cabanas, and an adorable picnic area for smaller children. The adult-only pool has underwater music and some of the hotel’s best views. Indoors, there is a kids club with daily themes and an array of activities. There is also a game room with an arcade and billiard-style games, Playstation, and a TV room. A continuously running shuttle transports guests around the property and is a fun adventure for younger children who enjoy “catching a ride” after an hour or two at the hotel playground or the walking trails. |

Onsite amenities include a wide array of sports, games, and swimming pools (adult, family, and children's options) complete with underwater music. Traditionally decorated rooms are spacious; bathrooms are exceptional with deep tubs with a prime view of a TV (a hit with kids). Dining options are varied with access to patios for a more casual experience. The resort offers a free shuttle to the surrounding area, including beach service although given the extensive amenities and services offered at The Grand Del Mar, there’s a good chance you won’t want to leave the resort until it’s time to go home. |

The Arts and Crafts style resort is a world famous golfer’s paradise, but it also has a top-notch spa and outstanding restaurant. Despite these adult-focused amenities, the resort goes out if its way to welcome families, particularly during summer months when they offer an array of kids activities. The décor is warm and cozy, and rooms are spacious. Although the location feels secluded and is a short drive from shops and restaurants, family-friendly San Diego attractions are easy to access. |
